I was born and raised on the south Texas Gulf Coast and have Upland South ancestry, but I abhor hot climates, especially the humid, muggy swampland that characterizes the Deep South and the coastlands in which I grew up.

I made the momentous decision at age 30 to uproot myself from family and 'Go West, young man'. I now find myself in serendipitous awe of California's landscape diversity: craggy ocean coasts, chapparal hillsides, oak wooded canyons, verdant valleys, conifer forested mountains, and stark, richly-hued deserts.

California is truly America's Promised Land, the westward culmination of Manifest Destiny, the land of milk and honey--literally: it's the top dairy and beekeeping state, not to mention the leader in wildflowers and wine, as well as fruits and nuts--both the edible and human kinds!

The whole of the West has such natural beauty--from the emerald rain forests of the Pacific Northwest to the red rock canyons of the Desert Southwest, from Rocky Mountain highs to sculpted shores of the Pacific coast. I am a Jeffersonian Democrat, ever grateful for the Lousiana Purchase and the Lewis & Clark expedition that gave our nation its Wild West.

I find the self-reliant, cowboy code of land and wildlife stewardship and the frontier legacy of live-and-let-live really accords with my own values--far more than Southern fundamentalism or urban rat-race, corporate ladder-climbing that measures life by status and money-making.

I especially treasure our national and state parks--a truly original American idea, intrinsictly democratic, putting our most precious lands under the ownership of every citizen for all time.

My travel is exclusively within the American West, and I'm not looking to relocate from Paradise. I rode my Harley across the West on the Pony Express Trail in 2009, and will ride all of Route 66 in Sept. 2010.

I am deeply spiritual and ever self-examining by nature. The greatest discipline is self-discipline, and that's what makes any man appealing. A man who doesn't maintain his own body and health has no business expecting respect from others. I do not use illegal drugs EVER!

What I desire is the camaraderie of authentic men who can challenge me to grow in my tribal brotherhood with them. I need some tattoos! I love to spend time doing things like riding--my Harley, horses, dirtbikes, & offroad trucks/jeeps, playing paintball, being at a rodeo or football game (Oakland Raiders fan for life!), watching MMA cage fights or blue-collar-job reality-TV shows, or smoking cigars.
