Alex, Antoin and Philip will leave for Malawi on the 8th May to start the 500km difficult cycle ride across Malawi and Mozambique. The trio from the Recon office are aiming to raise over £10,000 for ActionAid from sponsorship kindly donated by friends and Recon members.

Mission Malawi is a biannual charity challenge raising money for HIV/AIDS projects run by ActionAid in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe

They will join the 20 strong team of cyclists at London's Heathrow airport on Saturday evening, arriving in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, on Sunday. The cycle trek starts on Monday when the team will travel more than 500km through Malawi and Mozambique over the next 10 days.

The route follows a mixture of paved and dirt roads through the Malawi and Mozambique landscape which is both remote and rural. Along the way, they will visit several ActionAid projects that Mission Malawi has helped to fund over the past few years.

Malawi is particularly hard hit by the AIDS crisis almost 15% of the population is HIV+, and this is disproportionately skewed to young people.

Alex, Antoin and Philip really need your help to reach their target. Please help them by donating anything you can to the ActionAid appeal. You can donate online by visiting www.recon.com/MM4.

Thank you for your support.
