Recon pre-xmas systems tweaks and software releases

As part of our pre-Christmas preparations we're doing a few performance tweaks to the site. On Tuesday 27th October we'll need to take the site offline for a couple of hours in order to release some changes to enable us to better handle the growth in members over the coming months. You'll also notice a few changes to the Friends & Favourites page to make it more useful and match the rest of the member lists.
Over the last few months we've also been trialling a new chat system which already seems to be working significantly better than the previous version – around 1 in 3 of you have used the chat feature so far! There are still a few aspects we're working on to make it easier to use – but from your feedback and the number of video streams we think you're enjoying it!
Since the use of the old chat system has declined significantly, and the reliability of chat connections in that system remains an issue (with many of you writing into support with unresolved problems) - we've decided to remove the old system around the 17th November. Members wishing to use private chat should now click on the chat tab in the main menu to enter a chat room. A private chat can then be initiated from within the new chat service.
We're confident the new chat system is a great improvement to the old system, and we're working to release further exciting improvements in the coming months to enhance your Recon experience.
