Alex, Antoin and Philip have successfully completed their 500km challenge and are now celebrating their epic journey across Malawi and Mozambique.
In the final day of cycling our trio battled blistering temperatures to complete the last 22km of dirt roads. They finally reached the steep, uneven descent to the town of Cobue to reach the greatly anticipated finish line.
At Cobue, they exited Mozambique, and took their daypacks with 2 days of necessities, taking a boat trip to Likoma Island, where they camped for the night at Mango Drift.
After spending the night on Likoma, they caught the historic Ilala ferry, which travels overnight towards Chipoka and Monkey Bay. They slept on the upper deck of the boat, in the open air, taking full advantage of the bar facilities to celebrate the end of the cycling! The team get a chance to let their hair down and think about their achievements.
Congratulations from everyone in the UK team. We'll give your legs a firm rub down when you're back in the office.
The team have been constantly moved by stories told by the Malawians suffering the effects of HIV. They’ve experienced many of the projects started by ActionAid first hand.
Alex, Antoin and Philip really need your help to smash their target. Please help them by donating anything you can to the ActionAid appeal. You can donate online by simply clicking the link below.
