Integral to the growing international rubber fetish community, this group are helping to fly the flag for the UK contingent. Let's get under the skin of the Manchester Rubbermen.

Who are the Manchester Rubbermen?

Created to bring like-minded rubber-loving fetish men together, the Manchester Rubbermen are based in the city but also have strong connections to other rubbermen groups around the world. Rubber is undoubtedly a global scene, and one that's growing all the time.

The only prerequisite to becoming a member is that you're into the slick stuff, the nature of which is up to you. The MRM includes guys into all kinds of rubber, from sports and uniforms, to superheroes and cosplay. The people of Manchester are famed for itheir warmth and sense of humour, and this certainly extends to the MRM, who are friendly, fun and up for a laugh.

MRM organise a host of rubber fetish events, from the sleazy to the purely social. The highlight of the calendar is the annual Manchester Rubber weekend, where the city's own revel in all things rubber with fetish men from the world over.

MRM history

The Manchester Rubbermen were founded in 2009 by the late fetish pioneer and friend of Recon, Si 'Sly' Hands. After attending his first Mr. International Rubber weekend in 2008, Si returned from the U.S. keen to create an inclusive rubbermen community on home soil.

The first MRM pub crawl had just 30 attendees but was the start of a loyal local following that quickly gained momentum. Si launched the first MRM weekend in the same year, bringing veteran rubbermen and newcomers alike to Manchester's gay village and well and truly putting the city on the fetish map in the process. Through his wins as Mr. Rubber UK in 2011 and the global title Mr. International Rubber in 2012, Si continued to raise the international profile of MRM and Manchester to make it the renowned fetish destination it is today.

Si passed away suddenly in June 2017 and is sorely missed, both as a passionate advocate of rubber fetish and a dear friend.

MRM events

As well as the annual weekend, which features rubber parties, gear sales and demos, as well as bingo and karaoke, the MRM add massively to Manchester's fetish social scene. They're big contributors to Manchester Pride and hold regular pub crawls, fetish nights and games nights, all with an emphasis on making members old and new feel welcome and at ease. Take a look at the MRM Facebook page to find out the latest.

Proud of their roots, the MRM also raise money for local causes, including Manchester Mind and Manchester Royal Infirmary – donating thousands towards new equipment for the patients with long-term liver conditions.
