Recon's GearStaysOn virtual weekend will be raising money for UK Black Pride.

The Covid-19 pandemic has seen the cancelation of many events – including Pride and Fetish Week London. While this is disappointing and has had a financial impact on all events around the globe, some organisations have been hit harder than others. UK Black Pride usually takes place just before Fetish Week London and is hugely important for people of colour, their families and their allies. We are proud to have a platform and an opportunity to help support them and we ask that you do consider a donation to help them continue their vital work within the community and ensure next year UK Black Pride is bigger then ever.

UK Black Pride is committed to ensuring that they campaign with organisations within local communities to promotes unity and co-operation among all Black, African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American descent, as well as their friends and families, who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex.
UK Black Pride take an active role representing and advancing these communities by challenging the inequalities in society that people of colour face.

The Official Annual UK Black Pride Event

UK Black Pride produce an annual celebration during pride month, as well as a variety of activities throughout the year in and around the UK. The aim is to create a safe space to celebrate diverse sexualities, gender identities, cultures, gender expressions and backgrounds and foster, represent and celebrate Black LGBTQ and QTIPOC culture through education, the arts, cultural events and advocacy.

Importantly, UK Black Pride promotes unity and cooperation among LGBTQ people of diasporic communities in the UK, as well as their friends and families. In the words of Audre Lorde: "There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives. Our struggles are particular, but we are not alone."

UK Black Pride is an organisation that fosters a positive ethos to ensure that Black LGBT talent and achievements are promoted and aim to raise awareness around the experiences of UK's Black LGBT community. The organisation works with community outreach –looking at resources available within UK Black Pride to support as well as give back to the community and will advocate and make contributions to the general community from Black LGBT perspectives.
